Top of the table clash awaits at Hiiu on Sunday
The Premium League Round 6 brings a big match to Hiiu Stadium this Sunday, as our first team takes on league leaders Nõmme Kalju. Kick-off at Hiiu Stadium is scheduled for 14:30.
This is the standout fixture of the round, featuring the top two teams in the table. Nõmme Kalju currently sits in first place, while FCI Levadia is second, trailing by four points. The match will play an important role in shaping both the standings and the course of the season.
FCI Levadia has started the season strongly. A convincing win in the opening round was followed by several productive performances. Most recently, the team showed strong attacking play and solid defending, earning valuable points and staying firmly in the title race.
Nõmme Kalju has also been in excellent form. As league leaders, they have demonstrated consistency, collecting points regularly while showcasing both attacking quality and disciplined defending. In previous rounds, Kalju has controlled matches well, and their results have deservedly taken them to the top of the table.
Encounters between the two sides have traditionally been closely contested and emotional, and the same can be expected this Sunday at Hiiu Stadium. FCI Levadia approaches the match with the aim of securing three points and closing the gap to Nõmme Kalju in the standings.
Head coach Vjatšeslav Zahovaiko before the match:
Is this upcoming game against the league leaders the biggest test of the season so far?
“The context gives it weight — we’re facing a team that has won all their matches. That says a lot about them, but for us it’s an opportunity to catch up in the table.”
How much can this match influence the standings?
“Points always matter, but even more important is how we play and respond to the situation. Games like this show whether we are ready to take the next step.”
What will be decisive in this match?
“Brave decisions and small details. These are games where you have to push beyond your limits. I trust and believe in our team. We are calm and confident. The team is hungry. We go out to play our game, not to wait and see what happens.”
Goalkeeper Karl Andre Vallner added:
“We are expecting a tough match against an in-form Kalju. We respect the opponent, but we approach the game with confidence and know that with a strong performance we can take three points back from Hiiu to Maarjamäe.”
We invite all supporters to back the team — tickets are available via Piletitasku. See you at Hiiu Stadium!
