First Tallinn Derby Ends in Goalless Draw
On April 12, the first Tallinn derby of this Premium League season took place, with FCI Levadia and FC Flora facing off. Despite the fiery clash, the match ended in a goalless draw – 0:0.
A total of 1,184 spectators gathered at Sportland Arena to witness the season’s first major Tallinn derby. The question of whether Tallinn is green for Levadia or green for Flora remained unanswered today.
FCI Levadia started the match with the following lineup: Karl Andre Vallner (GK), Michael Schjonning-Larsen, Mark Oliver Roosnupp, Rasmus Peetson (C), Edgar Tur, Bubacarr Tambedou, Brent Lepistu, Mihkel Ainsalu, Aleksandre Lopes Gomes, Richie Musaba, and Joao Pedro.
As is typical for derbies, this match was not without passion and tension. A total of nine yellow cards and one red card were handed out, with both head coaches also receiving yellow cards.
Levadia dominated possession and controlled both halves but failed to score. They made 5–6 attempts on goal, while Flora managed just one. Levadia also earned six corner kicks compared to Flora’s three.
From the 61st minute, Flora played with a numerical disadvantage, yet the home side could not capitalize and break the deadlock.
In the 8th round of the Premium League, FCI Levadia will face JK Tallinna Kalev away. The match will be held on April 19, once again at Sportland Arena.
