The national team faces Israel and Norway on June 6 and 9
The Estonian men’s national football team, which gathered on June 2, has already been training together for five days. Today, June 6, they will play their first World Cup qualifier, kicking off at 21:45 against Israel.
National team head coach Jürgen Henn has called up six FC Levadia players for this round: Karl Andre Vallner, Mihkel Ainsalu, Michael Schjønning-Larsen, and—after the squad announcement—also Brent Lepistu and Tanel Tammik. Team captain Rasmus Peetson was left out due to injury; in March, he started against Israel alongside Schjønning-Larsen.
The March match against Israel was played in Hungary and ended in a 1:2 loss. Estonia’s only goal was scored by Maksim Paskotši, but unfortunately, the match also featured an own goal attributed to goalkeeper Karl Jakob Hein. This time, there’s a chance for revenge!
Our next opponent, Norway, is also playing today – against Italy. The Estonia vs. Norway match will take place on Monday, June 9, at A. Le Coq Arena. The last time the two sides met was in 2016.
After the international break, players will return to Premium League action on June 14, when Levadia visits FC Kuressaare for the 16th round. The next home game at A. Le Coq Arena is on June 21, when we host a major match in cooperation with the charity organization My Dream Day – half of the ticket revenue will be donated to the foundation. Tickets are already on sale!
