The Big Tallinn Derby: Coaches’ and Players’ Comments Ahead of the Decisive Clash

Today, September 16, a press conference was held at the Estonian Football Association’s conference center, where the head coaches and players of both FCI Levadia and FC Flora shared their thoughts. Ahead of the big derby, the situation is completely even – both teams have 60 points in the league table.

This season, the meetings between Levadia and Flora have ended in a goalless draw and a 1–0 victory for Flora. With the season entering its final stretch, nine rounds remain to be played, including two derbies. The first will already take place tomorrow, September 17, at 19:00 at A. Le Coq Arena. Tickets are available at Piletitasku.

Levadia head coach Curro Torres:
“For me, it doesn’t matter which game it is – whether the opponent is Tammeka or Flora. Nothing changes for me. Tomorrow, the three points are very important for both of us and could be decisive in the title race. But in the bigger picture, it’s a game like any other.”

Levadia captain Rasmus Peetson:
“Our style of play is such that we take a lot of risks. Very often, our center-backs or defenders in general are in one-on-one situations where they have to cover half the pitch. It’s a difficult job, but we must be able to do it better. We also need to be more organized as a team when we lose the ball.”

Flora head coach Konstantin Vassiljev:
“There are still ten games left to play, which is actually quite a long period. The end will determine the mood we go on holiday with. Where we are now is not as important compared to where we are on November 8.”

Flora player Rauno Alliku:
“Right now, we’re on a really good run and we hope to continue it tomorrow.”

The great Tallinn derby awaits – see you at the stadium!
