One point from Tartu
On September 13, FCI Levadia faced Tartu JK Tammeka in the 27th round of the Premium Liiga at Tamme Stadium. The match ended in a 2:2 draw, and Levadia had to return home with just a single point.
FCI Levadia started the match with the following lineup: Karl Andre Vallner (GK), Michael Schjønning-Larsen, Mark Oliver Roosnupp, Rasmus Peetson (c), Bubacarr Tambedou, Brent Lepistu, Mihkel Ainsalu, Til Mavretic, Carlos Torres, Victory Iboro, and Joao Pedro.
Levadia got off to a strong start – in the 3rd minute Bubacarr Tambedou converted a good chance to give the visitors a 1:0 lead. For most of the first half, Levadia pressed Tammeka in their own half, but in the 22nd minute the hosts capitalized on their opportunity and equalized. Towards the end of the half, Levadia created several more chances, but the finishing was too weak and Tammeka’s goalkeeper did well to keep his side level. The teams went into the break tied at 1:1.
Early in the second half, it seemed Tambedou had restored Levadia’s lead, but VAR disallowed the goal shortly after. In the 63rd minute, Levadia made a triple substitution: Tambedou, Torres, and Joao Pedro were replaced by Robert Kirss, Gabriel Wendell, and Ernest Agyiri. The fresh legs immediately added energy in attack, but the breakthrough did not come right away.
In the 71st minute, Aleksandr Zakarliuka came on for Mark Oliver Roosnupp. Just minutes later, the pressure finally paid off – in the 79th minute Wendell struck a beautiful long-range effort into the top corner to make it 2:1 for Levadia.
Unfortunately, the lead didn’t last long. Only three minutes later, the ball deflected off a Levadia defender and ended up in their own net, bringing the score back to 2:2.
After the draw, both Levadia and Flora sit level on 60 points in the Premium Liiga standings. Flora remain at the top thanks to their better head-to-head record, while Levadia are second. With two derbies between the rivals still to be played, the title race is very likely to be decided in those encounters.
The first of the two derbies will be played next Wednesday, September 17, when Levadia host Flora at A. Le Coq Arena. Kick-off is at 19:00. Tickets are available via Piletitasku.
Now more than ever, Levadia needs loud and passionate support – come to the stadium and cheer for the team!
