Levadia shows character and secures last minute win against Kuressaare!

Today, April 8th, FCI Levadia played their 6th Premium Liiga match of the season, facing FC Kuressaare at Sportland Arena. Kick-off was at 18:00.

Levadia started the game with the following lineup: Karl Andre Vallner (GK), Michael Schjonning-Larsen, Tanel Tammik, Rasmus Peetson (C), Mihkel Ainsalu, Ernest Agyiri, Til Mavretic, Ahmad Gero, Frank Liivak, Enock Otoo, and Joao Pedro.

Historically, the stats were clearly in Levadia’s favor – from 20 previous encounters, Levadia had won 15, Kuressaare just 2, and 3 games had ended in a draw. That dominance continued today, though it wasn’t an easy task, as Levadia edged out a 2–1 win.

The match began with high intensity and determination from both sides. However, it was the visitors who opened the scoring in the 29th minute, putting Kuressaare 1–0 ahead. Levadia were forced to chase the game from that point on.

Despite dominating possession and controlling the tempo, Levadia couldn’t find the equalizer before halftime and went into the break trailing.

In the second half, Levadia increased the pressure and created numerous chances. As Mihkel Ainsalu noted after the game, Kuressaare goalkeeper Magnus Nõmm made several crucial saves and kept his team in the game with perfect positioning.

The turning point came late. Robert Kirss was subbed in on the 57th minute, followed by Bubacarr Tambedou, Mark Oliver Roosnupp, and Edgar Tur in the 65th minute. Just 15 minutes later, Tambedou found the back of the net to level the score at 1–1.

The equalizer re-energized the Levadia supporters, who pushed the team forward. Their support paid off in stoppage time, as Edgar Tur scored the decisive goal in the 90+3rd minute, securing a hard-fought 2–1 win for Levadia.
