Levadia beat Kalev 3–1 and now share the lead points with Flora

Today, on September 28, a home match was played at A. Le Coq Arena against JK Tallinna Kalev. The home team FCI Levadia secured a solid 3–1 victory, which means the gap with Flora has now been closed.

Line-up:
Karl Andre Vallner (gk), Michael Schjonning-Larsen, Tanel Tammik, Mark Oliver Roosnupp, Edgar Tur, Bubacarr Tambedou, Mihkel Ainsalu, Til Mavretic (c), Carlos Torres, Victory Iboro, and Joao Pedro.

Levadia started the match strongly, and already in the 4th minute Mark Oliver Roosnupp put the team ahead. Kalev stayed in the game and fought hard to avoid relegation, but no more goals were scored in the first half. Levadia created several chances, but either failed to convert or were flagged offside.

The second half began with a substitution – captain Rasmus Peetson came on, while goalscorer Roosnupp was replaced. Only a few minutes later, Mihkel Ainsalu doubled Levadia’s lead after a pass from Joao Pedro. Following Peetson’s entrance, Ainsalu moved into the striker’s role.

With ball possession at 56/44 and shots 7/3, the second half remained fairly even, but Ainsalu increased his tally by finishing Til Mavretic’s precise pass in the 73rd minute, making it 3–0. Kalev replied in the 80th minute with a goal of their own, but the final score remained 3–1.

Further substitutions followed – Ainsalu, Tambedou, and Mavretic went off. Frank Liivak, who came from the bench, was shown a red card – the initial yellow was upgraded to red after VAR review, forcing him to leave the field.

After Round 30 of the Premium Liiga, Levadia have 66 points. In today’s other match, Flora lost 1–3 to Kalju, meaning that Levadia and Flora are now level on points in the table.

The next home match will take place on Sunday, October 5. Tickets are available at Piletitasku. See you at the Arena!
