Levadia battled to a valuable win over Narva Trans
The Premium Liiga Round 18 match against Narva Trans, played on June 27, ended in a 2–1 victory for FCI Levadia. It marked another three points in the standings and gave the team a solid boost of confidence ahead of the upcoming European matches.
Levadia started with the following lineup: Karl Andre Vallner (GK), Michael Schjønning-Larsen, Tanel Tammik, Mark Oliver Roosnupp, Bubacarr Tambedou, Mihkel Ainsalu, Til Mavretič (C), Ernest Agyiri, Richie Musaba, Frank Liivak, and Victory Iboro Sunday.
The lineup demonstrated a good balance between experienced players and dynamic attacking options. Particular attention was on Musaba and Agyiri, who have both shown increasingly strong form in recent weeks.
Dominant start and a well-deserved opener
Levadia took early control of the match. The team moved the ball calmly and confidently, creating sustained pressure on the opponent’s half, although the first shots on goal posed little danger. The breakthrough came in the 9th minute when Bubacarr Tambedou received a long ball, skillfully dribbled past two Narva defenders, and played a precise pass into the box. Richie Musaba was perfectly positioned and slotted the ball into the net with confidence – 1–0 to Levadia.
Crossbars and missed chances
In the 36th minute, Agyiri had a chance to double the lead with a powerful free kick that struck the crossbar. Musaba suffered the same fate in the 68th minute when his attempt also rattled the frame of the goal. Levadia kept pushing, and in the 74th minute, substitute João Pedro fired towards goal after good work from Musaba, but the ball deflected just wide off the post.
Trans capitalizes on a mistake
Despite Levadia’s dominance and numerous chances, Narva Trans managed to equalize in the 84th minute. A misplaced pass in midfield by Iboro went straight to the opponent, and Aleksandr Agaptšev made the most of the opportunity. He launched a powerful shot from about 25 meters out that beat Vallner at the near post – 1–1.
Decisive final push: Tur – Zakarliuka – Kirss
Levadia didn’t give up. The head coach’s substitutions brought fresh energy, and in the final moments came the winning goal. A quick attack started with Tur, continued through Zakarliuka, and found Robert Kirss, who fired from a tight angle – the ball went off the post and in. 2–1 – and the tense match ended in a well-earned Levadia victory.
Looking ahead
Levadia stays firmly on course in the Premium Liiga table, and this win delivers a crucial morale boost ahead of European competitions. A new domestic challenge awaits in Round 19 against a strong Paide Linnameeskond side.
