In the 25th round of the Premium Liiga, we had to concede to Pärnu JK Vaprus 3–1. Next Friday we face Narva!

Last Friday, August 22, the Premium Liiga 25th round match against Pärnu JK Vaprus ended in a painful 3–1 defeat for FCI Levadia. The much-needed points were left behind, but already next week comes a new chance as Narva JK Trans visit our home ground.

Line-up: Karl Andre Vallner (gk), Michael Schjonning-Larsen, Tanel Tammik, Mark Oliver Roosnupp, Rasmus Peetson (c), Mihkel Ainsalu, Ernest Agyiri, Til Mavretic, Richie Musaba, Frank Liivak and Joao Pedro.

Before the game, Levadia topped the league table with 56 points, with FC Flora in second place with 51. After the 25th round, Levadia still hold the lead, but Flora are now just two points behind (54 points). Paide Linnameeskond also remain in the chase with 51 points after 25 matches.

Levadia came into the game against Vaprus on the back of a convincing 6–1 win over Tallinna Kalev. Despite the recent exit from European competitions, the team had shown strong form in the league by beating the bottom-placed side. Against Pärnu, three points were again the target to strengthen the league lead, but this time things went differently.

In the first half, Pärnu scored three goals to which Levadia could not respond. The final 3–1 scoreline came from four goals scored by Vaprus – in the 78th minute, their captain attempted a back pass to the goalkeeper, but the ball slipped past and ended up as an own goal gifted to Levadia.

The statistics strongly favored Levadia – possession 70/30, shots 31/6 (on target 13/4), and corners 11/1 – but the numbers didn’t translate into goals. While Levadia failed to convert their chances, Vaprus took theirs clinically. The outcome was historic – Pärnu Vaprus defeated Levadia for the very first time.

Next match: On Friday, August 29, we face Narva JK Trans at home. Trans are also in good form and currently sit fourth in the table with 45 points before the 26th round.
