Five Players from FCI Levadia Called Up to the National Team!
On September 7, the Estonian men’s national team gathered in preparation for two Nations League matches. Five FCI Levadia players received call-ups to the national team!
This Monday, September 7, the national team players reunited to face Azerbaijan and Sweden during this international window. Among the 26 players selected by Jürgen Henn, five FCI Levadia players were called up: Mihkel Ainsalu, Rasmus Peetson, Michael Schjønning-Larsen, Ioan Yakovlev, and Karl Andre Vallner. This is the second international window of the ongoing Nations League season.
Previous International Window
The last set of international matches ended in losses for Estonia, but with stronger resistance than before. First, Estonia faced Slovakia at home, where they had to concede a 0-1 defeat. From Levadia, Michael Schjønning-Larsen and Mihkel Ainsalu started the match against Slovakia. Ioan Yakovlev came on as a substitute in the 78th minute.
The second Nations League match took place in Stockholm, at the Strawberry Arena. Only Michael Schjønning-Larsen was in the starting lineup from Levadia. None of the Levadia players came off the bench. While Estonia managed to hold off Slovakia to nearly keep a clean sheet, they had to concede a 3-0 loss to Sweden by the end of the first half. In the second half, Estonia couldn’t put up enough resistance, and the final score remained 3-0. FCI Levadia captain Rasmus Peetson missed the match due to health reasons, and goalkeeper Karl Andre Vallner did not play.
Upcoming Matches
Both upcoming matches will take place at home, at A. Le Coq Arena. The first Nations League match will kick off on October 11 at 19:00. The second match will kick off on October 14 at 21:45. As usual for national team matches, the pre-game warm-up will begin 45 minutes before the start, with the national anthems performed 15 minutes before the match.
We wish the best of luck to the Levadia players and the entire national team!
