FCI Levadia Starts UEFA Conference League Third Qualifying Round with a Victory! Second Leg on August 14
Yesterday, August 7, FCI Levadia played the first leg of the UEFA Conference League third qualifying round in Luxembourg, where they faced local champions FC Differdange 03. Levadia returns to Estonia with a valuable 3–2 win. The return match will take place on August 14 at A. Le Coq Arena.
FCI Levadia started the match with the following lineup: Karl Andre Vallner (GK), Edgar Tur, Victory Iboro, Rasmus Peetson (C), Michael Schjønning-Larsen, Carlos Torres, Mihkel Ainsalu, Til Mavretic, João Pedro, Richie Musaba, and Mark Oliver Roosnupp.
The game was played at Stade Municipal de la Ville de Differdange, with kickoff at 21:00 Estonian time.
Levadia clearly dominated the first half and opened the scoring already in the 14th minute. Richie Musaba, who has started in all of Levadia’s European matches so far, capitalized on a defensive error and made it 1–0.
Differdange responded quickly – in the 17th minute they equalized. Vallner saved the initial shot, but the rebound fell to an opponent who finished it on the second attempt – 1–1.
Levadia didn’t back down. Just three minutes later, in the 20th minute, they regained the lead – Musaba’s shot was saved, but Mihkel Ainsalu was quickest to the loose ball and calmly finished. 2–1!
No more goals were scored in the first half. Levadia controlled the game, holding 58% possession and recording six shots to Differdange’s five.
The second half started with similar intensity. Levadia launched a counterattack early on, but the final pass to Musaba narrowly missed. However, in the 52nd minute, they extended their lead to 3–1 – once again, Richie Musaba found the net, this time firing the ball between the goalkeeper and the post.
Just eight minutes later, Differdange pulled one back, reducing the deficit to 3–2. Levadia had a chance to score a fourth, but couldn’t convert. The second half statistics tilted more in favor of the home team.
Levadia had to make two forced substitutions during the match. First, Til Mavretic was injured and replaced by Lopes Gomes. Later, Lopes Gomes also had to leave the pitch due to injury, forcing Levadia to quickly adapt their game plan. Despite the setbacks, the team held on to their lead with determination.
Head coach Curro Torres had to watch the match from the stands due to a touchline ban from previous yellow cards. Assistant coach Jose Vicente Soto took over coaching duties in Luxembourg.
The return leg against Differdange will take place in just six days – on Wednesday, August 14 at 19:30 at A. Le Coq Arena. Your support is crucial – come to the stadium and help the team secure a place in the next round!
