FCI Levadia secured a second consecutive 0-0 draw
After a positive 0-0 draw in the European competition, FCI Levadia hosted FC Kuressaare in the domestic Premium League and again played to a 0-0 draw.
The 426 spectators in the stadium witnessed numerous goal-scoring opportunities and dangerous attacks, with the ball hitting the posts and crossbars, but the main event was missing – this time both goalkeepers kept their nets clean. FCI Levadia came very close to scoring on several occasions in both halves, but they couldn’t get past FC Kuressaare’s goalkeeper, Kaur Kivila.
FCI Levadia started the game by taking control. Still, it took some time to achieve total dominance, as Kuressaare had several decent chances, with their shots either just missing the goal or going over it. Kaur Kivila for instance, had to save a one-on-one situation against Oliver Roosnupp, who tried to dribble past him, but the goalkeeper extended his arm and deflected the ball away from Roosnupp’s path. It was the best scoring opportunity of the match.
In the second half, FCI Levadia remained the more aggressive side, while Kuressaare attempted to counterattack, but without creating dangerous moments. On the other hand, Levadia had several opportunities, but still couldn’t score. The ball rolled past the goal mouth several times, with Kuressaare defenders throwing themselves passionately in front of every shot. Their last line of defense, goalkeeper Kaur Kivila, did everything to keep his goal empty, and he succeeded.
“In football, we’ve seen moments where rotation is done, and not always successfully. The league is very important for us, and every point matters, it’s a pity that we lost some here,” said Peetson to SoccernetTV after the match.
“If we start thinking that our position in the table is secure, a snowball effect can occur and we could lose points consecutively. I don’t think it’s wise to do that. Every game should be played to the fullest,” said Peetson.
FCI Levadia’s next match is on Thursday in Croatia against Osijek in the second qualifying round of the Conference League. The return match will take place on August 1st at 19:00 at A. Le Coq Arena, with tickets available on Piletitasku.
