FCI Levadia Defeats Kuressaare 1-0 Away!
On Tuesday, September 17th, the team traveled to Kuressaare to compete in the 28th round of the Premium League. They emerged victorious with a 1-0 win, securing another 3 points!
First Half
Looking at the stats, it’s clear that Levadia dominated the game from the start. However, in the first few minutes, Levadia had to make an early substitution, with Mark Oliver Roosnupp being forced off due to an injury after a collision with an opponent. Aleksandr Zakarlyuka came on in his place. Throughout the first half, Levadia managed several shots on goal. In the 23rd minute, Robert Kirss had a shot, followed by Richie Musaba in the 24th minute – both opportunities were created by Ioan Yakovlev. Despite Levadia’s efforts, Kuressaare’s defense held strong, and the teams went into halftime with a 0-0 scoreline.
Second Half
Levadia was determined to win, and it was clear that they were aiming for all three points. In the second half, substitutions were made, with Joao Pedro coming on in the 46th minute, Moustapha Bah in the 52nd minute, and Brent Lepistu in the 88th minute. Joao Pedro, who came off the bench, scored in the 63rd minute, giving Levadia a 1-0 lead! The assist once again came from the playmaker Ioan Yakovlev. Things got worse for Kuressaare in the 70th minute when, after a VAR review, the referee changed Iljin’s earlier yellow card to a red card.
In the 80th minute, Levadia had another great chance when Rasmus Peetson, the team captain, attempted to score from Joao Pedro’s corner kick, but Kuressaare’s goalkeeper made a crucial save. A minute later, Frank Liivak found the back of the net, but unfortunately, the goal was disallowed due to offside. Notably, the team’s former captain, Brent Lepistu, returned to the Premium League after a 10-month absence, coming on in the 88th minute and playing until the end of the match!
Next up, we will meet on Sunday, September 22nd, at A. Le Coq Arena, where Pärnu JK Vaprus will visit! The game has a charitable purpose in collaboration with the Red Cross and a thrift store.
