FCI Levadia brought home a victory from Tartu and secured its 11th championship title!
Yesterday, on October 19, FCI Levadia faced Tartu JK Tammeka in a crucial Premium League 32nd round match. With a 3-0 win, the club brought home its eleventh championship title!
Match against Tartu JK Tammeka: First Half
It became clear from the opening minutes that Levadia came to Tartu determined to secure the title. Within the first few minutes, the opposing goal was threatened, and in the 3rd minute, Joao Pedro scored when a weak pass from the opponents landed right at the feet of Levadia’s sharp Brazilian. Tammeka’s goalkeeper Aland had to retrieve the ball from the net in the 3rd minute, acknowledging a 0-1 deficit to the visiting team.
In the 12th minute, Tartu JK Tammeka handed another gift to the visitors when Ezekiel Tanimowo was sent off following a VAR decision. His aggressive challenge on Lepistu’s ankle resulted in a red card, leaving Tammeka down to ten men. The halftime break came with Levadia leading 1-0.
Second Half
In the 50th minute, Richie Musaba earned a penalty for Levadia, which captain Mihkel Ainsalu stepped up to take. Unfortunately, Ainsalu hit the crossbar instead of finding the top corner, missing the opportunity to extend the lead. It’s worth noting that team captain Rasmus Peetson had to miss the match due to suspension and watched the game from the stands.
By the 62nd minute, it seemed that Tammeka had grown tired from their intense defensive efforts. After a corner kick, Brent Lepistu, playing his first full 90 minutes in over a year, set up Bourama Fomba, who managed to send the ball into the opponent’s net!
With the score 2:0 on the board and Levadia’s title nearly secure, young player Maksimilian Skvortsov scored his debut goal in the Premium League just before the end of regulation time, assisted by Frank Liivak. Bourama Fomba was named the man of the match, and with a 3-0 win, FCI Levadia claimed its eleventh championship title!
