Eighth consecutive win in the Premium Liiga!

FCI Levadia secure 2–0 home win over FC Kuressaare in Premium Liiga Round 22

On August 1st, FCI Levadia hosted FC Kuressaare in Round 22 of the Estonian Premium Liiga and earned a confident 2–0 victory.

Head coach Curro Torres made several understandable changes to the starting line-up compared to previous league matches, as the team had just returned victorious from a European fixture two days earlier. The green shirts began the match with the following line-up: Vallner (GK), Peetson (C), Lepistu, Agyiri, Kirss, Lopes Gomes, Zakarliuka, Kallaste, Torres, Skvortsov, Braga.

The league leaders showed right from the start why they sit at the top of the table. Despite the many changes, Levadia applied early pressure and dictated the tempo. Robert Kirss and Carlos Torres both looked lively, but Kuressaare goalkeeper Karl Andre Vallner made several impressive saves to keep the score level.

The breakthrough came in the 30th minute. Ken Kallaste, making his first start of the season, delivered an excellent cross into the box, where Robert Kirss confidently finished past the keeper to make it 1–0.

In the second half, Levadia had chances to increase their lead, but the second goal came in the final moments of the match. Joao Pedro created danger down the right wing and sent the ball into the box, where it deflected off a Kuressaare defender and landed at Carlos Torres’s feet. He calmly slotted home to seal the 2–0 victory – his second goal for Levadia.

The match ended with another three points for FCI Levadia, who continue to lead the Premium Liiga table.

Up next: UEFA Conference League third qualifying round against Luxembourg champions FC Differdange 03. The first leg will be played away on August 7th, with the return leg at home on August 14th.
