FCI Levadia defeated Harju JK Laagri 3:0 at home and remains unbeaten in the League

FCI Levadia earned a convincing 3–0 home victory over Harju JK Laagri yesterday at A. Le Coq Arena in the 11th round of the Premium League and remain unbeaten this season. After 11 matches, Levadia have extended their impressive unbeaten run without suffering a single defeat.

Levadia took control of the match from the opening minutes, dominating possession, although clear-cut chances were limited during the first half hour. The home side created several half-chances, but the shots either missed the target or Harju goalkeeper Jan Martti Vainula was equal to the task. The visitors tried to threaten through quick transitions, but failed to create serious danger for Levadia’s defence.

Levadia’s pressure increased significantly towards the end of the first half. Harju defended bravely and blocked several dangerous attempts, but their resistance was finally broken in the 39th minute. Vainula misplaced a pass and Mark Oliver Roosnupp found Wendell near the penalty spot. The Brazilian created space for himself brilliantly and finished confidently to make it 1–0.

Just 114 seconds later, Harju’s net rippled again. Rasmus Peetson won the ball in midfield and found Roosnupp on the left flank. Roosnupp drove into the penalty area and his shot deflected off Sander Alex Liit into the goal – 2–0.

The two teams combined for 21 shots in the first half alone – 16 by Levadia and 5 by Harju. The second half, however, was far more cautious and lacked major opportunities. Levadia registered six shots after the break, while Harju managed three, with the home side becoming truly dangerous again only in the closing stages.

Levadia sealed the final score in the 90th minute when Joseph Saliste combined with Roosnupp on the left wing and found Enock Otoo in front of goal, leaving the striker with a simple finish – 3–0. Deep into stoppage time, Otoo came close to scoring his second and Levadia’s fourth, but Vainula denied him with a save.

Mark Oliver Roosnupp’s post-match comments

After the match, Roosnupp, who provided two assists, stressed that the victory was the most important thing.

“It doesn’t matter, we won and that’s the most important thing for us in the dressing room. A win is always nice and it’s great to play on the grass at A. Le Coq Arena.”

According to Roosnupp, Levadia gave away some initiative in the second half, but still remained in control throughout the game.

“At 2–0 we somehow gave away the initiative a little bit and the second half was what it was, but in the end we won and everything is good. Harju are not the kind of team that gives up or falls apart. We knew the second half would not be easy and that we had to stay focused for the full 45 minutes. We controlled the game. I don’t remember Harju having many really dangerous chances. Overall, we can be satisfied.”

Levadia remain unbeaten in the Premium League and next face Paide Linnameeskond away from home.

“We’ll take the win and positive emotions with us. It’s always good to play against Paide. It will be a good battle. We’ve managed to avoid defeats, we’ve played well and our game has been improving more and more.”

FCI Levadia’s next home match will take place on June 20 at A. Le Coq Arena against Nõmme Kalju FC. Tickets are already available via Piletitasku.
