FCI Levadia U21 defeat Tallinna Kalev 3–2 in an exciting match
FCI Levadia U21 earned a valuable victory in the Esiliiga, defeating Tallinna Kalev 3–2 in a tense and goal-filled encounter.
The match started at a high tempo, with both teams actively searching for attacking opportunities. Levadia U21 were more clinical in front of goal and gradually took control, although Kalev kept the pressure on throughout. Levadia’s second team took the lead when Daniil Petrunin scored an own goal in Kalev’s net to make it 1:0. However, Kalev responded just three minutes later through Dylan Sal-Al-Saller, leveling the score at 1:1, which remained until halftime.
At the break, head coach Dmitri Kruglov made the right adjustments, as Levadia U21 returned to the pitch with renewed hunger. Their pressure paid off in the 60th minute when Gregor Lehtmets found the net to make it 2:1. The pressure continued, leading to another own goal by Kalev – this time by Levadia academy graduate Artur Sibul – extending the lead to 3:1.
The closing stages were tense, as Kalev pulled one back on the counterattack through Raiko Ilves to make it 3–2. Despite the late pressure, Levadia U21 held on to secure all three points.
Levadia U21 will next face FC Tallinn away on April 27 at the Lasnamäe Sports Complex artificial turf stadium, with kick-off at 19:00. Their next home match is scheduled for May 2 against Viimsi JK.
Head coach Dmitri Kruglov was satisfied with the performance, highlighting the team’s fighting spirit and character: “The boys showed great determination and desire today. Matches like this help us grow and build confidence for the rest of the season.”
The win gives Levadia U21 a boost in the Esiliiga standings, lifting the team to seventh place.
