Our physiotherapist Gretemari Metsaveer participated in an international football medicine conference in Spain
Last weekend and Monday, Gretemari Metsaveer spent in Madrid attending the international football medicine conference organized by the Isokinetic Medical Group. The event was held in collaboration with FIFA and as part of their official medical centers network.
The conference took place at Civitas Metropolitano Stadium – the home ground of Atlético de Madrid. It brought together more than 3,000 participants from 85 countries and featured over 250 speakers, including leading experts in sports medicine, rehabilitation, and science.
The main topics included hamstring injuries – prevention, biomechanics, and safe return to sport; knee injuries such as ACL, meniscus, and cartilage repair; ankle issues including the domino effect and treatment of the deltoid ligament; specific injury mechanisms of the soleus muscle in footballers; assessment, treatment, and prevention of adductor injuries; neural compensation and the brain’s role in functional recovery; tendinopathies involving the patellar and Achilles tendons; regenerative medicine as a future direction in recovery; muscle transplantation in severe injuries; and biomechanical and gender differences in sport-specific injuries.
The conference provided an in-depth overview of modern methods aimed at improving injury prevention and rehabilitation quality in football.
Now, Gretemari is back with the first team, ready to apply the knowledge she gained for the benefit of our players!
