National Team Success: What Role Did Levadia Players Play? Another Match Today!

On October 11, the Estonian men’s A-team faced Azerbaijan at home, securing a 3-1 victory. Today, October 14, the team will play again at home, this time against Sweden!

The Match Against Azerbaijan

Last Friday, three FCI Levadia players started the Nations League match against Azerbaijan: Mihkel Ainsalu, Michael Schjønning-Larsen, and Ioan Yakovlev. In the 29th minute, a fourth Levadia player, Rasmus Peetson, was subbed in due to Paskotši’s injury.

The first part of the first half was a balanced fight from both sides, with Estonia and Azerbaijan battling evenly. However, the game started to shift later in the first half. Just three minutes after Peetson came on, in the 32nd minute, a pass from Anier found Yakovlev, who made a brilliant move past the last defender and goalkeeper, scoring his debut goal for the national team! 1-0.

The end of the first half was intense. Azerbaijan became even more aggressive after Estonia’s first goal. In the 45+1 minute, they equalized with a penalty. However, the 1-1 score didn’t last long. Estonia quickly counterattacked, with Ioan Yakovlev passing into the box, where Rocco Robert Shein directed the ball to Vlasiy Sinyavskiy, who netted it! The half ended with Estonia leading 2-1.

The second half was just as eventful, with dangerous chances, yellow cards, and numerous substitutions. While it initially seemed like Estonia was focusing on maintaining the 2-1 lead with solid defense, they proved otherwise in the 71st minute. Estonia scored again, making it 3-1! Our midfielder Mihkel Ainsalu won a midfield battle and passed to Rocco Robert Shein, who struck the ball into Azerbaijan’s net from the edge of the box.

The team gave the Estonian people a long-awaited victory, and Levadia players played a crucial role in this win.

The Match Against Sweden

After the beautiful 3-1 victory against Azerbaijan, the team now faces a new challenge in the Nations League, as they take on Sweden today. The last time they met, Estonia lost 0-3.

We wish the Levadia players and the entire team success in their final home match of the year!
