FCI Levadia started their European season away and victoriously
FCI Levadia began their European campaign on July 11 with an away match in the Lithuanian city of Šiauliai against the local football team, which was defeated 2-0 thanks to goals from Richie Musaba and Felipe Felicio.
In June, the Greens drew Lithuanian top-tier club FA Šiauliai as their opponent in the first qualifying round of the Conference League. FA Šiauliai finished third in the Lithuanian top league last year. Twelve years ago, they faced the same opponent, with the aggregate score being 2-2, but the Estonian club advanced to the next round thanks to the away goals rule, which no longer exists in football.
This time, they started away and victoriously – in the early minutes of the first half, they put pressure on their opponents, and in the 7th minute, Richie Musaba opened the scoring by netting a rebound. Šiauliai had their moments, but they didn’t score, and Felipe Felicio provided a “hockey assist” for his goal, passing to Tur, who shortly after sent the ball into the box, which Felipe headed into the goal. The first half ended with the same score.
In the second half, Levadia increased the pressure but couldn’t score. There were chances to score several more goals, but substitute Roosnupu’s shot hit the crossbar, and Ioan Yakovlev’s shot hit the post. The opponents’ goalkeeper also made several good saves.
The return match will take place on July 18 in Tallinn at A. Le Coq Arena, with the game starting at 19:00, marking the beginning of the second leg. Tickets are already available for pre-sale at Piletitasku. More information can be found on FCI Levadia’s Facebook page.
